The TC4400 is a laptop Tablet PC (unlike the iPad) made by HP Compaq. It is like a regular laptop in most ways except the screen swivels and turns around so you can fold it with the screen facing up and use it as a tablet. It shipped with Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, a modified version of XP Professional with tablet PC Enhancements. Versions after XP (Starting with Vista) had the tablet enhancements built in and there was no separate Tablet PC Edition. Windows versions since XP up to Windows 10 can be installed on the TC4400 as can any standard PC x86 "IBM Compatible" Operating System. (Nice that Compaq made the first IBM Clone and are the makers of this.)

Before the iPad came out there was talk of the "Apple" tablet. I was excited and thought it would be a MacBook Tablet PC. Since Apple switched to Intel/AMD (x86) Macs became PCs and could run Windows and Windows Programs. The idea of a MacBook with a touch screen that could run Windows and Mac programs blew my mind!!! But when the "Apple tablet" was released I was extremely disappointed that the "iPad" was just an oversized iPhone that could only run iPhone apps. Unlike BlackBerry, Android and others iPhone is locked down so only Apple can release apps. It's much easier to install an app made by you or a friend (or person's website) to an Android than an iPhone/iPad. The iPad is not x86, and therefore not a Tablet PC.

My TC4400 was the last thing I bought off eBay since the item in my second last order arrived late (after my TC400; near the end of the 30 day return Window, how convenient) and was defective. My TC4400 was 2 years old when I bought it in 2009 (sticker says made 2007, same year as my first laptop [broken], TC4400 is my 3rd laptop and 64 bit) just over a decade ago. It has been over 13 years since this thing was made at a Manufacturer Suggested Retail (Sticker) Price of $2000. At $500 when the TC4400 was 2 years old, my TC400 has been the best $500 I have ever spent.

The one listed here lists 512MB memory, mine has 2GB.

Some company who either didn't do their research or were ignorant of the fact that the name TC4400 was already taken made a modem called "TC4400" which combined with the "Apple Tablet PC" (see above) pollutes Google and other search results for searches for TC4400.

Pen Disclaimer: I cannot vouch whether online shopping sites (Except for Amazon, not eBay, see above) are legitimate or not.

The HP Elitebook Revolve 810 G2 is a worthy machine. The AC power cord from my TC4400 works on the Elitebook Revolve. The screen swivels around like the TC4400 with the keyboard hidden still facing up unlike other tablet laptops where the screen doesn't turn aroud and get's folded all the way around with the keyboard upside down on the bottom. If a surface has crumbs, dust, microscopic debris, germs, etc., they will touch the keyboard.

This HP Envy has the keyboard facing down, unlike the HP Compaq TC4400 and Elitebook Revolve. The keyboard faces the bottom in tablet-mode and is folded in a way where it seems more likely to drop.
